Disclaimer About Colors
I have finally concluded that it's impossible to calibrate the colors on my laptop correctly. Which means anything I draw digitally won't look right :( I've realized that my laptop simply doesn't have a lot of color "depth", so what looks like a dim red to me is actually a vivid red! You might've noticed the crazy saturation recently. Besides buying a whole new laptop, I'm not sure what I can do about this, but I'll look into it...

April 2026

My siblings were very kind and for my birthday they gifted me a camcorder that records to casette tape!!! So I got a little lunchbox to use as a case and made this strawberry pin out of felt for it.

March 2026

This is my fiiiiirst ever oil painting! If you know anything about oil painting you can probably tell that it's like... super overworked lol. I painted over my first version of the crab. He's gonna be playing 3DS!

March 2026

Saw a thing where someone drew their OC as if it was like a charm on a carabiner, so I did that myself with a random little critter!

Experiment in Clean Side Images w/o Flexbox
Do you see those awesome websites with a central body of content and then some images and links on the side? Kinda like this page? Do you want advice from someone who is not good at HTML and CSS? Read more...

This is one of the many, many granny squares I've made so far that will be turned into a pair of pants! As you can see it's quite hole-y so I've also made some more filled in squares for the waist/crotch area lol. But with those I made a mistake that also caused several holes so I'll just have to cover them up with pockets haha ! I'm following this tutorial for converting all these squares into actual pants.

These are some sketches I made while my boyfriend and I were drawing animals at the zoo! As you can see we were quite taken by the pelicans. And below is the result of some art warmup games we played together.

11ty Migration
I realized my website was begging for pagination-- asking visitors to load 10s of high-quality images was embarrassing me, haha. Let alone the 100s of images I hope to have on here eventually! I also realized that I was duplicating a lot of HTML, and I know from programming games that you don't want to be copy/pasting anything. I had heard before of "static site generation" but I had no idea how that worked on any level. I can barely use CSS to make a decent looking site (still!), so I knew it was going to be a daunting task but a worthwhile one. I decided to do this after stumbling across a post mentioning 11ty, and so I chose to use 11ty as my static site generator with the help of the Nunjucks templating language. Read more...

February 2026
Halloooooo, here's a little update on the (extremely late) Christmas present. I don't know why embroidering this specific projects feels SO much harder than any other time I've done it! Lol

I decided to make an experimental decision because I knew I didn't have enough white thread to satin stitch the whole stomach area. Instead I used a piece of white felt! I think it does look a little hokey but it also adds a really soft, touchable, textural element. It reminds me of those kids books which have fabric in them that you can touch, haha. I kind of really like it for that!

Online Community Wishes
I desperately want more engagement with the online art & web scene. Like the thought of collaborating with other artists makes me giddy, tbh. I want a world where someone online not only reads the silly little opinions I have but comments on them, shares their thoughts & critiques, and I regularly go check out their website and do the same. (If you want that, PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME VIA emailme@deathsurplus.com) I bring this up because of the newish social media platform Perfectly Imperfect (pi.fyi). Geared as a free, old-web style social hub that isn't harmful like other forms of social media, I gave it a try. ... I don't want to see content from people I don't know endlessly (small doses is fine) unless it's the start of a new, mutual relationship. I want to TALK to more people, not LOOK at more people. January 2026

Thiiiiiis is my very long term crochet project: making the gamecube disc for Resident Evil 4! Over the summer I was really getting the urge to work on another big, big project like my floor-to-ceiling jellyfish sculpture/lamp, and suddenly this idea popped into my head and I went: "oh shit " because I realized I really, really wanted this object to exist now. I had to make it. So here I am, several months in with only about 1/3rd of it done. It's roughly 40in wide now!

The pattern was made by uploading an image of the disc into stitchfiddle (a wonderful online resource worth paying for). You can see the full pattern to the right here, and the highlighted line is what I'm on right now.
